The video below explores DDP Protected Workspace and uniquely addresses healthcare regulations related to malware prevention.

The three key points covered in the video are:

  1. Attackers, even the low skilled ones, can pass any traditional AV scanners at will – trivial for those infiltrating networks
  2. If the only line of defense is free or pseudo free AV solutions like Microsoft, than you are not in compliance with the spirit of HIPPA, and at best you are meeting the minimum requirements
  3. There is a lot of good technology to help lower your infection rates by about 95/99 percent
The evolution of malware has gone from low sophistication, such as script kiddies, to nation states (tier 1), who are more skilled and who specifically target individuals, or industries with data they intend to infiltrate. Today there is more specific targeting with higher sophistication.

There is a new battleground. Individuals take malware and obtain the characteristics pertaining to the individual and find ways to get around the malware inspections in place. The hackers find the parameters set to catch them and alter themselves to appear like something they are not, stepping around the implemented malware detection.

With regards to HIPPA, most breeches are coming from the outside. The malware is from external agents.

Today, there are more dollars spent on prevention, not mediation. There is a strong need for a defensive architecture and distancing endpoints.

Malware is all new, and we need to focus on containment and isolation. We need “future proofing technology”.

There is a huge vulnerability where hackers are embedding malicious content into documents. They are looking for out of date software or applications to compromise the computer, which is a significant security flaw. With the DDP Protected Workspace, you can collect forensics detail and information about the attacker; moving honeypots to individual incidents.

With the DDP Protected Workspace, applications become immune to infection and a user can view higher level analysis.
